Nearing Death:
When my story began, I was a normal eighteen year old.  No.  I was a boring teen, ruled by my strict morals.  I was in college studying to become a psychologist.  I never guessed the trials that would soon await me.  I thought I would live quite a while after graduating from college and obtaining my degree.  I was quite wrong.  I would have been lucky to even come close to graduation.  My fate was quickly approaching.

I remember the last week before I faced the seven legacies.  It began as usual, I suppose.  I had just finished my first semester of college, so I was on vacation.  It was Christmas; I had cleaned up pretty nicely.  I had gotten everything I asked for, not that it had been much, even after recently buying my first car.  I looked at my car as if it was a God-given gift.

I started the day by picking up my grandmother from her home, which was less than ten minutes away, to begin the festivities.  I was delegated to be the one to retrieve her before we began opening gifts.  I gladly agreed, as I still hadn't driven my car more than once.  When I got there, of course, she was already outside waiting for me.  I wasn't surprised.  I parked long enough for her to get into my car, before I turned around to return home.

Christmas wasn't that far from the norm that year.  Everybody opened their gifts, as always, and my brother was impolite, as always.  Then we departed for my uncle's home to celebrate Christmas with the entire family, omitting my aunt and her children.  It was hectic, as it was every year.

The week following Christmas I don't even remember.  I do remember getting up extremely early on New Year's Eve to go to have Christmas with my paternal family.  I didn't expect different from Christmas with my maternal family.  The only difference would be the complete lack of sarcasm in most of the attending guests.  It turned out much as I expected, I embarrassed myself bowling, a new addition to Christmas with them, and due to the irregular warm weather, stayed late to enjoy the gentle warmth of a bonfire.

Shortly after the bonfire was extinguished, I drove the hour and a half to return home.  I was nearly there when a car that had been in the wrong lane forced me to swerve off the road and into a ditch.  I was knocked out upon the impact; my car on the other hand, was unscathed.
